Electrostatics Story Board Exploration
Procedure:
- Sketch out each of the three story boards for both a negatively charging
object and a positively charging object.
- When charge is transferred, show the
direction with an arrow and charge symbol
- When you are done you will
have 6 unique story boards.
Resource:
Flash player animations of charging
Questions:
- Charge separation: what
moves, protons or electrons, and in which direction?
- When charging by conduction
what must occur between the charging and the charged object?
- When charging
by induction, which is removed first? The ground or the charging object?
- State the resulting
net charge of the electroscope for each story board
- How does the charge
on the electroscope compare to the type of charge on the
charging object for conduction, for induction?
- Are
the charging of the electroscope permanent or temporary for conduction? for
induction
